Here is a beautiful Indiana Red 1960 VW Bug that was restored a couple of years ago. It is in very nice condition and ready to be converted to a plug-in electric. The interior has new seat upholstery, new carpet, beautifully installed headliner, door panels and is very clean. The body and paint are also very nice. We will give a rebate of $1500 to a customer buying this classic and having it converted here!

Very cool. How many years / distance traveled can you drive it before you have to replace the battery packages? I drive about 6,000 miles a year but that would be less if I had an electric car. Also have you ever converted a VW Vanagon to electric?
Thanks,
Thomas
Thomas,
The AGM batteries are rated for 500-1500 cycles depending on how much they are discharged each time. More discharge=less cycles, less discharge=more cycles.
The lithium cells are rated 1000-3000 cycles depending on DOD (depth of discharge).
No we haven’t converted a Vanagon yet. They definitely have room for a lot of batteries. I think they would be good for around town deliveries and other short trips.
Would an onboard generator much like the chevy volt be an option on a vw camper van to allow for longer trips?
A generator would work but then you would have to carry gas of course. A hybrid would be a possibility in a Vanagon and you would just need to decide on how many batteries you would be willing to carry while leaving the original fuel tank and engine. We actually have designed a few parts for a Vanagon Hybrid.
